A few years ago, my family decided that buying more unnecessary stuff for birthdays and Christmas just to have presents to open was not a good use of our money or space. We concluded that making memories doing things together would be a better choice. Since that change, we have been to Jamaica, Nashville, TN, Cape May, NJ, Busch Gardens Williamsburg, Myrtle Beach, SC, and many others. Let's just say its been an eventful few years!
Recently, my oldest daughter and I took a trip for her upcoming 20th birthday. She and I both enjoyed watching The Vampire Diaries and she had been scoping out Covington, Georgia where the show and subsequent related shows had been filmed. We planned a few tours and did some independent exploring of the area. I would highly recommend the Vampire Stalkers tour! It was very entertaining and informative. We also did the Made in the South walking tour in Conyers, Georgia, where The Originals was filmed. Overall, the Covington/Conyers area of Georgia was very beautiful and easy to navigate. We drove about 12 hours to get there, but it was an easy drive on mostly expressways. The Holiday Inn Express in Covington was a great place to stay! They provided a very nice fresh cooked breakfast every morning in their dining area adjacent to the lobby. It was clean, comfortable, and the staff was very friendly and helpful. We ate at The Mystic Grill for lunch one day. The food was delicious and the prices were reasonable. The Celtic Tavern in Conyers also had some great food for a decent price. Their "Crack Dip" was a scrumptious treat! We also tried Osake, a sushi place, on our last day as a little treat. If sushi is your thing, definitely give it a try!
